Kappa League is a part of Guide Right which is Kappa Alpha Psi’s national service project. The program was founded in 1969 by the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. It was then adopted as a national initiative in 1970. It focuses on guiding young men in their educational, occupational, and social development by promoting leadership skills, academic achievement, and college readiness through mentorship and community service.

While Guide Right can serve any student, Kappa League is only open to males. The Waukegan Alumni Kappa League is open to high school males grades 9-12. Our program accepts students from all of Lake County. Our emphasis is on African American males. Our primary goals are:

Leadership development: Help young men discover their unique skills and prepare them to become leaders of impact and influence.

Academic achievement: Promote academic success, encourage enrollment in honors and advanced placement (AP) courses, and aim for a high percentage of high school graduation and college acceptance.

College and career readiness: Provide guidance on choosing college courses, assist with college and career planning, and inform students about higher education opportunities.

Social and personal development: Encourage positive self-identity, social development, healthy competition, and a strong sense of community and civic responsibility.

Mentorship: Connect students with positive role models through mentorship, counseling, and interaction with alumni.
